REGACE Project featured on Greek National TV

The EU-funded REGACE Project recently gained national attention in Greece, with a dedicated segment aired on Greek television’s eco news programme of Skai TV. The spotlight was on the groundbreaking work of our Greek partner, the University of Thessaly, led by Professors Nikolaos Katsoulas and Chrysoula Papaioannou.

The piece focused on REGACE’s pioneering use of rotating agrivoltaic systems, a transformative solution designed to optimise both agricultural productivity and solar energy generation.

Installed at the University of Thessaly’s experimental farm near Volos, these systems feature dual-axis photovoltaic panels that rotate to follow the sun while allowing sufficient light penetration for crops underneath.

Prof. Katsoulas, who was interviewed, emphasised that this technology represents a major step forward in addressing climate-related pressures on agriculture.

“We are no longer talking about choosing between food and energy production,” he said. “With smart systems like these, we can achieve both, on the same land.” He also highlighted how the REGACE system adapts dynamically to environmental conditions, increasing efficiency without compromising crop health or yield.
